Susan Elkins Ley

Raised on ranches around the Southwest, I grew up with a love for the country and its critters. After graduating from NMSU with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, I married Guide and Outfitter Richard Ley. We have two daughters and two grandsons. I have been fortunate to live in beautiful surroundings with great scenery and wildlife to paint.

I retired in 2008 after being a Postmaster for 30 years, first at Terrero, NM on the Pecos River in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, and then at Luna in the Gila National Forest where there are often elk in my yard. A member of Catron County Art Guild, I have shown work at galleries in Arizona, New Mexico and Texas. I enjoy painting with friends several days a week in Luna and paint with a class at Alpine AZ on Sundays. My dream of having my own studio at home has been realized this year, and I am now a full-time artist!
